Elena Thomas’s drawings are from a series of work exploring cause and effect. Mainly large scale watercolour grounds with collaged ‘stolen’ text, aesthetically they dig deep into abstraction. Although Elena works in a range of sizes.

Elena’s themes concern the influence and effect of one person on another. That might be between child and parent, between lovers, or the bond that exists between women. Previous works were expressed through intricate hand stitching on old, worn garments and household textiles.

Since completing her MA in 2012 her practice has expanded to include singing and songwriting with her band The Sitting Room, and for the Arts Council funded project Nine Women.
