'Absence' - Brigitte ThomasOnline Exhibition1st - 31st July
This recent body of work draws upon elements of landscapes combined with ideas of absence and unspoken or unheard messages. Layered and textured mixed media paintings are created using old dress patterns, for their personal meaning, and collage from the artists own experimental processes. Obscured writing is incorporated either below the surface or directly into oil colour and cold wax on archival oil paper. Absence is articulated as negative space in pale and neutral colours.
During lockdown, Brigitte painted surreal images devoid of figures and full of uncertainty. Now together with asemic writing and the changing light of natural environments as inspiration, she is exploring the freedom of a wider landscape as lockdown eases.
